Re: File at 1 per sec, too fast

Thanks for the explanation. But doesn't solve my problem. Getting the out.jpg via IP is unreliable due the variations in the IP delivery. I wrote a vb6 app today that obtained the out.jpg in a webbrowser control embedded in the VB app, and could copy the image to memory and then dump it to file as a...

Re: File at 1 per sec, too fast

Made some progress on this, but not a solution. Just a better upstanding of the problem :-) Http://localhost:nnnn/out.jpg I could not get to work as it is looking for a file, and as Malun point out, it's not a file, it's in memory. I am surprised Mulan got a python app to read it. You know something...

Re: Yawcam BETA 2013-03-19

Thanks for that. I downloaded and find it does a complete install. As I have 3 instances of yawcam installed, and each with several mods, doing a complete install and setting up all three again is no small task. Can I install the new BETA in yawcamTemp, then just copy across the files that have chan...

Re: Offline image doesn't always show when cam is offline

To see the Offline image the viewer must have a connection to the yawcam server, and it must be running. If they get a timed message then they did not connect with the yawcam server on your PC in the time allowed by the internet. They might get through to your PC but if the yawcam is not running, th...

Text overlay, extravars. Does not respond to an empty file.

Text overlay, extravars. Does not respond to an empty file. I have the 'forceoverlayimageupdate.txt in place, and if the content of the file change it is seen in 5 sec. except when the content of the file is nothing. In that case the change is ignored. One can put a space, that works, but then you g...

Re: File at 1 per sec, too fast

Not saved to disc but in memory! That explains why could not find it :-) Thanks for the info and the same python code, I get the concept. The motion detect idea will not work for my requirement. I need 60 snap shots at 1 sec intervals, overwritten every minute. And it must not miss a grab, as the ti...

Re: File at 1 per sec, too fast

Thanks for the confirmation. My plan is to write a small VB app to make the snap shot. The VB app being dedicated to just that one task (file copy) it would have a much better chance at keeping up with 1 fps. Face it, yawcam is doing a hell of a lot of (great) other things at the same time, so it ha...

File at 1 per sec, too fast

If the FILE option is used and set to 1 sec per frame capture, it misses the odd one. Not always the same one, but over 60 seconds it will typically skip 1 or 2, sometimes 3. I suspect this is simply a case of the task/s take longer than 1 second. So thinking about writing a stand alone bit of code ...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

More progress. Help from any forum member would be great :-) Using 'Resource hacker' (app for reading and editing DLL files), I have found the dialog box that opens when in yawcam, I follow- Settings, Device(SMI Grabber Device), Device properties. It is located in .../System32/kswdmcap.ax which is o...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Progress, but not good progress :-( Looking at other suitable hardware for getting the PAL video signal into the PC via USB, I looked at a top of the range unit (210 euro, vs the £6 easyCap), but after the last h/w try, I sent their tech support the questions. This is what came back: 'The DFG/USB2pr...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Looks like we were thinking in parallel :-) Closed down and gone to bed when the thought occurred to me that as the setting is lost after reboot, it probably was not saved in the registry of any file, but in memory or in the running driver itself. (as per your conclusion). So there is nothing I can ...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Thanks for the suggestions. I installed both as you suggested but with zero result. In both apps the amount of data collected in less than a minute is overwhelming, and even with the Notepad++ compare plug in, I cannot find where the video standard setting is. I think after 5 (long) days of trial an...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Flip vertical: Yes that makes sense. It's not big deal as one would not normally run with the setting box open. I only left it open for reference whilst I wrote the last entry above. The driver settings: That problem is a big one as it stops the use of yawcam without first going in (to yawcam or ule...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Advancing slowing on this problem. Observation- I boot up the PC. Open Yawcam and look at Settings, Device (SMI Grabber device), Device properties. The setting Video standard is blank. I close Yawcam Open Ulead video editor, select Video wizard (wizards, just what we don't need :-), and I see the vi...

Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Adjusting the settings? Only way I have found to adjust the driver's settings is via Ulead editor or yawcam. The driver file looks to be VideoCap.ocx I have VB6 running and could get it to set the video parameter when the PC starts up, if I knew how to access it. How does yawcam access it ? Looking ...
