I have been doing that but setting up yawcam to take enough pictures for 24 frames/sec then putting them together is such a waste of time. I agree...plus who wants .mov...heh. Other webcam applications such as "motion" for linux, have the option to capture x seconds of video after motion ...

It's a good question...and there's a possibilty you could get the commandline version of VLC (VideoLan Player) to do record the stream locally. Not sure if you would need splitcam to use the video feed for both products. VLC is kinda complex with a zillion commandline options. You could do something...

- The 'xml' file is a text file...just formatted in a structured way. You could open it notepad to see what I mean. You may also decide to google for a tool that would put it in a more readable format for you. (XML to Comma delimited or something like that) - Removing Pictures created by motion. Act...

Do you need to put anything into the file re the resolution?
Cheers
Nope. Once you create the blank text file, you will see the additional resolution options in the YawCam GUI.

The motion events are stored in a xml file called "EventList.xml" in the \yawcam\motion directory. This includes Threshold hit and timestamp for each datapoint.

I'm sure you could script something up to extract what you need.

I'm pretty sure Aussie is stating: - Somehow he has it now so that both Yawcams start automatically without prompting him that a second instance is running (which is good) - However, if he manually starts two Yawcams (rather than having them start automatically on boot up) then it does prompt him ab...

It Works

Just to give the final verdict on the EasyCap USB Capture device and it's compatibility with YawCam. Works great! I'm now able to stream the baby monitor via Yawcam. FYI..in case someone finds this thread later...the baby monitor with AV output is this one from SummerInfant. http://tinyurl.com/4glmzb

Re: disabling notify window of second yawcam is running?

This is a mather of choice. For you purpose it would come handy if you did not had to confirm the message. On the other hand other people may not use Yawcam the way you do. They maybe are not aware that Yawcam already was started and the message draw their attention to it. And thus avoid problems f...

For under $20 and free shipping, not much being risked :)
I did find some hits when searching EasyCap with wdm..so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

WDM DirectShow Required

After doing a little more self-educating, apparently the key terms to search for in a capture device are: - WDM & DirectShow compatible Unfortunately many capture devices don't list this spec..which may mean they don't have it. Sometimes finding what chipset the device uses then searching for wd...

Hi tellmewhy, I agree that there are many USB capture devices that "look alike". But unfortunately the details of how they actually operate is important. Some reviews state certain USB capture devices only work with the proprietary software that comes with the device. I have that issue wit...

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm in the US and I couldn't find Zolid listed at any of the main sites for purchase (ie amazon, newegg).
There are plenty of other USB Capture devices, but hoping to get one that has already been proven to work with Yawcam.

Thanks for any more feedback.

Suggestions: USB Capture with RCA input?

I have a Baby Monitor whose handset comes with a A/V output jack. I wished to hook it up to my laptop and possibly stream it using Yawcam. Any suggestions for a compatible USB Capture device that I can plug the BabyMonitor composite output into? Some external capture devices have their own proprieta...

I think the solution would require more technical options be added to the program. A linux based webcam progam called "Motion", overcomes these types of situations by using features such as: Minimum Motion Frames. http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/MotionGuideBasicFeatures#minimum...
