Re: yawcam 5 loses track of yawcam_settings.xml

Ah, I see why it can make sense to still use the "service trick" to manage the settings folders. Good thing then, that this trick still works, for the users that need more control over the settings in a scenario like yours. Okay, so at least the beta version made some difference. Thanks fo...

Re: Yawcam BETA 2016-03-23

Do you see the splash screen before it quits?
You can run Yawcam in debug mode to get some more information of what happens.
More info on that here:

Re: Problem -Can't write file check if directory exists.....

Oh my... Nope, still nothing fixed to get around this problem.
Let's do something about this. I just moved the "retry on error" for File output way up in the todo list. It's now in the top 5.

...and as usual I can't say anything about the time frame when it will be done.

Re: Service start problem

I think the problem here is that the service is running as 64 bit, but the java version you have installed is 32 bit. Could you please try to install a 64 bit java version and see if that helps? You find the 64 bit java on this page: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp It's called: Windows Of...

Re: yawcam 5 loses track of yawcam_settings.xml

So I guess you are using the "service trick" to be able to use separate settings folders between your instance running Yawcam 0.4.2 and your instance running Yawcam 0.5.0 ? Just to clarify for other users: When you are running Yawcam 0.5.0 and above there is no need to create separate fold...

Re: Yawcam becoming unresponsive overnight

Strange! If the camera's driver deliver a pitch black image without any natural noise when it's completely dark, the device error monitor will not work. Actually, it doesn't matter what version of Yawcam you are using. The device monitor will detect when there is no change in the image and will rest...

Re: open close

It sounds like there is a device or its drivers that cause Yawcam to crash at startup. As you are already in to, the best way to recover from this, is to first locate what device is causing the problem. Are you sure you disconnected all video devices from you computer? Even if it's not that common, ...

Re: Record video - Motion controlled

Since this old thread was bumped, I might as well add the following:
In Yawcam 0.5.0 there is an option to record a video file on motion detection.

Re: yawcam 5 loses track of yawcam_settings.xml

I found a scenario where the device error monitor in Yawcam could make the program freeze. When this happened the exit dialog would get stuck at "Good bye". I guess this could be related to the problem you are facing. It would be great if you could try this new beta version that contains a...

Re: Yawcam becoming unresponsive overnight

I found a scenario where the device error monitor could lock up Yawcam. I was able to reproduce the problem on one of my test machines and made a fix for it. But my logs differs a bit from your logs, so I'm not entirely sure that this will fix the problem for you... But it would be great if you coul...

Re: Yawcam becoming unresponsive overnight

Thanks for the files! I'll see if they can help me figure out what's going on... And as always, some more questions: In your first post, you say that the preview window goes black. When this happens, is the preview pitch black or black with some "natural" noise? The reason I ask is that so...

Re: trigger event, if no motion occours (moton detection invert)

This is a tricky scenario to detect!
I'm afraid Yawcam can't handle this today.
It's also a bit too specific and won't be useful for so many users that I feel I can spend time on a solution for this right now.
