Took a long time for the applet to load. And there was no movement on the stream. It was just a static image. I thought it would be more like video conferencing. Was there perhaps too much load on the CPU streaming and viewing at once? The machine is an Athlon XP 2500+, 256MB RAM, Win98SE. Strange,...

How does the HTML source code look like on the page? And what are the address your are typing in the browser? but I'm wondering if yawcam has or will have any native support for WDM devices such as DV Camcorders using firewire/IEEE 1394 ports? No, not in the present version or in no following java v...

First you should try if you can see yourself on the same computer that Yawcam runs on. Check at the bottom of the stream settings page in Yawcam and see what url is printed there. (open this page by clicking: Settings->Edit settings...->Stream) The url should be something like: http://192.168.0.1:80...

Re: Problem with signed applet usage

My understanding is that, for streaming config, you use the defined HTTP port (TCP) for enabling the HTML page retrieval Correct! , but I guess the applet, once downloaded, try to access the same port, but this time in UDP to retrieve video stream. Is that correct ? What is the way the applet works...

Yes, i agree %vv is not clear enough and very easy to confuse with %w. I think I'm going to add %w to do the same as %vv. Then this problem hopefully will be solved ;-)

My question is: why couldn't I access the streaming host from the applet ? Hmmm... Good question ;-) If you don't want to publish the url to your site here, please send me an e-mail with it and I'll take a look and see if I can find anything... One question: Do you use some kind of router? /malun

My first suggestion is webcam xp, but it is not freeware. On the other hand I think it works nice with multiple cameras.
Another software is "WheresJames Webcam Publisher Beta". This one doesn't support image streaming though.

But make a search in google and you will find more.

First I have two questions: Do you run Yawcam on your windows 2000 box, or on another computer behind your windows 2000 box? Do you want to use the built-in webserver in Yawcam or your other webserver outside your network? I think you should try to get it to work with the built-in webserver first be...

Actually the variable is not %w. It is %vv (with two v). v as in viewer. Try %vv and see if that works.

Are you using the Capture window when you are capturing your images? If so, I don't think you are doing anything wrong at all. The save dialog from the capture window will always start browsing the "my documents" folder. I've never thought of it before, but this can really annoying when sa...

This is a design choice. I let the camera stand in standby ready to deliver an image in the HTTP output. (This consumes CPU.) The STREAMING server on the other hand is not in standby, and therefore a delay occurs before the image is delivered. I think the delay is acceptable for the STREAMING server...

A question to the last anonymous guest:
Are you using port number 501?
Is this the port you are supposed to use with your TimeWarner's Roadrunner ftp?

What about having alternate date formats like: Monday, May 17, 2004 or something along those lines too? That would be nice :-) I know you can have %vv for streaming video. How about some code for http web image?? I'm not sure what you are looking for here... Do you want to be able to see how many p...

Ok, the small fix is ready. All it does is to print out some error messages that were missed before. This might help me figure out what goes wrong. Download the fix here: http://www.yawcam.com/yawcam_print_ftp_error_fix.zip Install it just like an ordinary update. (See instructions here: http://www....
