Re: Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

Ah! Getting somewhere. :-) Using- Yawcam Settings, Device (SMI grammer device), Properties, I find the Video standard selection is blank. I select PAL_I and up comes the video. But! the setting is not saved and is lost after a pc reboot. Obviously the Ulead app did not load something, it set the Vid...

Yawcam and EasyCap video to USB adaptor

I bought a EasyCap video to USB adaptor but whilst yawcam sees it as 'SMI Grabber device' I get a black picture. I installed the drivers from the cd that came with the USB adaptor. But, if I run the Ulead video editor that came with the USB adaptor and select capture, the video appears in the Ulead ...

Re: Offline image comes from?

Did a search on C:/ (only HDD in the pc) Note: I did a folder clean up so have the original in Yawcam1. I have the same problem in yacam 1 and 2. C:/Program Files/Yawcam1/img C:/Program Files/Yawcam2/img C:/Program Files/Yawcam1/streaming/img C:/Program Files/Yawcam2/streaming/img C:/yacamsettings/Y...

Re: Offline image comes from?

That is where I expected it to be. But I modified that file, and no change. I modified every copy of Offline.jpg to no avail. I cleared out the cache on the client end PC, it still displays the original image. I tried another PC as client to no avail (one that had not previously seen that site). I t...

Offline image comes from?

I would like to modify the offline image to be a little more informative. The one that comes up when you disable streaming. But cannot find it. Have looked in all the /img/ folders both in /program files/yawcam and /.yawcam/

Anyone know where it lives?

Re: HTTP does not refresh

The image refreshes now I have some code to refresh. Problem was there was nothing to refreah the page. The code I added (above) has the advantage of just refreshing the img so there is no page flicker (as occures sometimes when refreshing the whole page), and if the page has a lot of other stuff on...

Ruuning 2 yawcams. Window title?

I am running 2 copies of yawcam, all works well, but! Is there a way to modify the window title? (curently 'Yawcam - Yet another webcam software' ) Reason: I have a small program that enables me to start, stop or restart the web cam remotely. Starting yawcam is not a problem, but stopping it (or res...

HTTP does not refresh

In the file /.yawcam/update.html there is no code to update the web page. So it just loads 1 static pic and stops. I added this, which refreshes just the pic not the whole page. by changing the var n, you can dynamically change the FPS //Add id='pic' to the <img that holdsthe image. And add the js <...

Re: H.264 vs others. Bandwidth. Resolved

I found a great way to reduce the Kbps using yawcam. The HTTP with a refresh, rather than the streaming. With a refresh rate of 1FPS (slow but ok for keeping a general eye on thigs), the bandwidth used with 75% pic quality, and 640x480px pic, was under 1GB per day. That is less than half of what can...

Re: H.264 vs others. Bandwidth. Suggestion

Suggestion: Do not know if this possible from a business perspective, but could users have the option of H.264 if they were willing to pay for the codec/s? Either via yawcam, or a 3rd party if yawcam did not want to be in the commercial loop ? I doubt any new compression system will come free, they ...

Re: Rotate picture, Yes can be done

I got this ROTATE working with yawcam. Any angle of rotation from 0 to 360 degrees, with yawcam steaming in JS mode. Adding to the html js template I added buttons that rotated the steaming video on demand to any angle.

H.264 vs others. Bandwidth

Hi I just compared streaming with yawcam's best, (javascript mode) and H.264 using a dedicated h/w box. The bandwidth measured (with same pic specs as I could get) at- Yawcam (using js mode): 450-550 Kpps (5.4GB per day +-) H.264: 180-200 Kpps (2.5GB per day +-) That's a big difference. The yawcam's...

Running 2 or more cams. Warning box

If I try to run more than 1 copy of yawcam it comes up with a warning box to state yawcan already running, that requires a click. This a problem when I have the ability to remotely start webcam but not the ability to click the warning box, or have the yawcams (more than 1) starts automatically after...
