FTP dosen't work with certain network cards

Post by bben95 »

The FTP crashes my network card which is a SiS191 Ethernet Controller. Requires a restart to regain normal functionality.

I experienced exactly the same in July 2009 (see post: http://www.yawcam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1072 ) and then again in December 2010 (see post: http://www.yawcam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1238 ). On one of the PC's I really needed to solve the problem and did that simply by disabling the "onboard NIC" and adding a plugin NIC.

disabling the "onboard NIC" and adding a plugin NIC.

I don't really understand if you mean hardware or software.

Disabled onboard NIC in BIOS and plugged in a new NIC (hardware) and installed drivers for the new NIC.
