Skype work on phones

How does Skype work on phones that don't have front facing camera? The Droid PRO, The LG Vortex, Samsung Continuum, and many other phones say that they are Skype Mobile compatable but they don't have a camera in the front. How does that work?

Anyway, skype is not only about video-calls, you can make voice-calls too...
