yawcam not working as service

Post by hiddentreasure »

Hi,

i have an issue with yawcam service.
i followed the procedure in order to enable the service (launching yawcam with my personal parameters, closing the software, then starting the service).
after rebooting, yawcam is launched at startup (webcam led is ON) but i'm not able to access to the stream as if it's not existing.
if i stop the service and i launch yawcam.exe manually, it's working properly.

do you have any idea ?

thanks in advance.

It's probably your firewall settings. More info here:

i tried on another computer under win10 64bits and i'm not able to start the service

C:\Program Files (x86)\Yawcam>NET START "Yawcam"
The service name is not valid

i checked in service.msc, YAWCAM service is not there, whereas i can see it another computer (Win7 32 bits)

any idea ?

This is not the same problem as the one described in your original post.
Make sure that Yawcam is installed correctly and that you have installed the serviced first before you try to start it.

i uninstalled/installed yawcam several times, i even tried previous versions and it didn't solve the issue.

i'll try to add the service manually in services.msc

EDIT :

I created a new yawcam service, i'm now able to launch the service start and stop without any issue.

i opened the necessary ports on my router, but i'm still not able to access to my stream

EDIT 2 :

i resolved the issue by adding yawcam_service.exe in the windows firewall rules
i can now access to my stream from outside

Similar problem: service does not respond. Although, the yawcam.exe works fine processing requests from the internet. Enabled yawcam service and port in firewall, tried to disable firewall, nothing helps.
I have yawcam already installed on my two of my computers and it works fine. My OS is Win 10 Home X64.

Have to revive the topic again.
I've downloaded the latest 0.6.2 build and get problems Yawcam functioning as a service in the following scenario:

Windows 10 CU
Run yawcam.exe - OK
Set up camera - OK
Enable streaming - OK
Browser test from local host and a different computer - OK
Exit yawcam.exe
Install a service - OK
Set a service for an automatic start - OK
Run the service - OK
Browser test from both local and remote hosts - Failes ("Page takes too long to respond")

I stop the service then and run yawcam.exe again. Note: the streaming feature is disabled now. If I re-enable it, I can reproduce all steps above. Looks like the the settings flag, responsible for streaming, is not saved upon program exit. Am I doing something wrong? Or may be I can set the corresponding flag manually? This will work fine for me, if you point me at the right direction.

Upd.

Resolved. One thing confused me - enabling streaming in main window or file menu is not enough. There is one more flag in settings/startup menu. Now everything works reliably like Rolex watch.
Apologize for my stupidity...
