It's possible this occurs because you have two identical cameras.
I don't have the equipment to test this right now.

And since running multiple instances of Yawcam, only is a workaround for the fact that Yawcam can't use multiple cam simultaneously, it feels wrong to put too much time on this issue.

One Cam many programs.

I just tried this program (Yawcam) and it is very neat. I do hope in the future we can monitor more than one cam with only one instance of Yawcam. I did run across a program called Manycam ( http://www.manycam.com )
[Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with this program and only ran across it at the same time as Yawcam]
With it you can use one can with many programs. I.e. if the problem you are having is Yawcam can't connect because it is connected to another program then you can use this. It is analogous to a splitter in that you connect your cam to it and then any other subsequent program to manycam as the camera. It is free and it seems to work well with Yawcam. I have them running together right now.

It is unfortunate that even with the hack, we can only run two cams max with Yawcam.

Having this feature would make this more than just yet another webcam software (to keep the pun going).

I know this is an old post, but I had a question.

For this double instance thing to work, do I need a specific version of the software?

I have been trying for hours, but no matter how I edit the CFG file, it always creates the folder in my documents. It is like the CFG file has no effect.

Please advise.

Thanks

Are you sure that you edited the right .cfg (launcher.cfg)? Also, you
need to add the word service in it, at the end, so it reads:

Code: Select all

..blah...blah.../splash.gif yawcam.Main service
I haven't tried running 2 instances with the latest (beta) version, but I know
for sure that the previous one was ok with that.

Yep, edited the right file. and added service in the other file (launcher.cfg).

Followed the tutorial to a T.

Has anyone else done this with the latest version?
Maybe I should just restart with an older version of the software.

I've done it with 0.3.3 to 0.3.8 without any issues, haven't tried it with the beta yet though.

Did you modify the launcher.cfg on both instances? And add the path in both service_profile.cfg files?

Got it.

Uninstalled, cleaned everything.
Installed fresh in a new path. and instead of copying the installation to a new folder, did a second install to a different path.
Edited all files on both instances and voila.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
