All settings reset to default - no idea why

Post by Basara »

So today, for no real reason, after a restart, all my Yawcam settings are gone; schedules were turned off and blank, all my filename settings/directories were set to default, and it was basically as if I'd just installed it.

Any ideas why this happened?

I can't find any errors, no unexpected shutdowns or crashes, nothing in the Yawcam error logs (which are still there in the instal directory btw)

Also, where are the settings saved? I want to back them up incase this happens again

Strange... The settings are saved in the user's home folder.

In windows vista or windows 7 this could typically be:
C:\Users\username\.yawcam\yawcam_settings.xml
and in windows 2000 or windows xp:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\.yawcam\yawcam_settings.xml

where username is the name of the account you are using.

Did you perhaps rename your account or something?

Account is administrator and has been since day 1.
I checked the home folder ad the settings file is there, modified yesterday and created yesterday too.
It's like it never existed before yesterday
I also checked the user profiles, there's no .001 profiles etc so it's not been caused by profile corruption

If you are using Windows Vista or above, you can right-click on the yawcam_settings.xml file select properties and go to the "previous versions" tab. If you have any backups or system restore points, the previous versions of the files will be there and you should be able to recover them.
