Multiple cams on a LAN

Post by faygord »

I have a LAN.
All devices have static IPs
I have a No-ip account.
PC1 running Win 8.1 with a functioning Yawcam on port 8081. 8888 shows error when tested.
PC2 running Win7 Ultimate with Yawcam installed . Errors on Port 8888 and 8081
Both use TPLink Wireless adaptors to connect to a router/modem running UPnP

I realise that the second PC camera will need a separate port address.

Questions:

1. Why is 8888 showing an error on PC1 when UPnP is running? How can I check and repair its status?
2. Do I need to disable UPnP and manually forward ports 8888 and 8081 to PC1 {I did this initially before UPnP was enabled and still had 8888 error.
3. Which ports would you recommend I use for PC2?
4. I am going to install a Logitech cam with mike. Does Yawcam support "conversational" audio?
5. If not can you recommend an application that does?

Thanks in advance!

1)
Make sure that Yawcam isn't running on either PC1 or PC2.
Restart your router/modem.
Start Yawcam only on PC1.
Check if both ports 8081 and 8888 is working correct with the function "Help -> Am I online?"
If not, check the console for error messages.

You need to get PC1 working before you start trying to get PC2 online.

2)
If you run into problems that is an option, but usually UPnP works fine.

3)
Change the ports for PC2 to for example 8082 and 8889.

4)
No.

5)

Thanks.
1. I realised my error..http service was not started! 8888 OK when it is.

New questions:

1. What is the purpose of the http service/function?
2. When I activate "motion" there is a brief, loud emission of white noise from my speakers..I guess something to do with the mike in the camera?
3. The log shows a series of entries of my external ip address in red..roughlt once every minute.
Why?

Re: Multiple cams on a LAN

I successfully set up webcams hosted on two different Windows 8.1 machines on my LAN.
I use No-ip to manage the ip addresses.
I use Upnp to manage port forwarding.

I was able to access both cameras remotely and all was well.

Around 5 am this morning according to logs both cameras went down.
I suspect there may have been a glitch on my ISP service because I noticed that the dynamic ip address had changed from that I noticed yesterday.

Disabled Yawcam on both machines and rebooted the modem/router.

I left all Yawcam settings as they were ie when they worked!

Neither camera was on-line.

I checked the console and saw the message below on both machines.

I checked the router. Upnp is enabled.

Disabled Yawcam on each machine several times, rebooted the PC’s..same error.

What’s going on and what’s the answer?

[24/5 15:29] UPNP: Could not find any UPNP devices!
