0.2.3 FTP upload just sits there !!!

Post by slavnist »

:( Is it me or has anyone got the FTP to to work? I have Windows XP fully updated and I am able to FTP to my web site using a command window no trouble (therefore I know it is not my router or modem that is causing a problem). If I just set the FTP host name in the settings I get a window opening up and asking for my username and password. I enter those and the box goes away and wait...and wait... Also the directory name for my web site's FTP server is in the form of a web address i.e. /www.myweb.co.uk/ Maybe this is a problem to this version of Yawcam. Can anyone cast any light on this?

I have recently noticed that there might be problems i the FTP servers gives a welcome message on more than one row. But I'm not sure...

How does your welcome message look like if you use an ordinary ftp client when you login to your ftp server?

Please check if you get any error messages in the console (use the console tab or start the console window: window -> console) when the ftp output runs.

This is the output text from ws_ftp, it is a typical FTP responce and may help you in debugging:-

Yes, it might be the username, but it shouldn't ;-)
Right now I'm making a small fix that should print more error messages in the console when something goes wrong in the ftp upload.

Perhaps this will help us figure out what goes wrong...

I'll publish the fix here in the forum in a few days. Perhaps you are willing to help me and see if you get an error message printed in the console?

FTP upload trouble

Post by Guest »

I also have run into trouble with the FTP. It works fine at one site I have, but will not work on TimeWarner's Roadrunner. The normal welcome message I get at Roadrunner is:

---
Welcome to the Road Runner PHP FTP server!

Note: (if you see a 10061 or no login prompt below)
DOS "ftp" command is not compatible with your firewall
software,routers,or any connection sharing software/hardware.
(Ensure Passive Transfer option in FTP or IE options is set!)

Note: (if you see Anonymous access denied below, this means
you typed in ftp://home.xxx.rr.com , this is wrong, you need
to specify your PHPNAME in the url. For instance if your php
directory is mytwins, try ftp://mytwins@home.xxx.rr.com.)
----
The error message I get when using Yawcam is:
[07:24] Yawcam started
[07:24] Settings loaded
[07:24] Language: English
[07:24] Using device: vfw://0
[07:24] Image format: RGB [320x240]
[07:24] Ftp-output started
[07:24] Ftp error: PORT :501 PORT not allowed after an EPSV ALL.

Thanks!

Ok, the small fix is ready. All it does is to print out some error messages that were missed before. This might help me figure out what goes wrong.

Download the fix here: http://www.yawcam.com/yawcam_print_ftp_error_fix.zip

Install it just like an ordinary update. (See instructions here: http://www.yawcam.com/updtInstr.shtml )

When the fix is installed, please check if you get any new error message in the console.

A question to the last anonymous guest:
Are you using port number 501?
Is this the port you are supposed to use with your TimeWarner's Roadrunner ftp?

I'm having similar troubles. It will ftp fine to one server, but not my own ISP's.

I installed the updated .class file to see if I got any other errors in the console. All it says is:

Ftp error: Connection reset

During the weekend a have rewritten some parts of the ftp upload. Please install the new patch and see how it works: http://www.yawcam.com/yawcam_ftp_patch.zip

Many thanks to our anonymous guest who let me borrow his ftp account during the weekend.
