It would be really nice to have an option to lock exposure time but still have automatic gain control.
My problem:
When I turn 'Automatic gain control' on, the exposure time varies from 1/15 to 1/5 and the gain fluctuates as well. These exposure times make stills with moving subjects in them worthless. I mainly use the webcam to acquire stills at one second intervals.
What I dream of having:
It would be great if I could lock the exposure time and have the program select the gain. This way I won't have as much dynamic range, but the still image quality of moving subjects will be useful and very good.
In the mean time I am just using Manual gain (@ ~ 1/50 second) and therefore hardly have any dynamic range since I have to set a constant gain.
