That's good, I like the idea of the new %pubip variable, how is the ip obtained though? Does it ping a yawcam server? How accurate is it?

Thanks,

wow!! this is wonderful. I really notice the difference in the speed of the internal webserver.

"Added new overlay variable: %pubip "
I don't know what that is or where it is...

Thanks...

It's in the Settings -> Text overlay options.

It's like the timestamp option on the camera feed, except it puts your public ip address on the camera. This would be the address normal users would have to enter to see your camera.

I tested the option on my computer and it works great, considering it was saying the right IP address also.

Do you mean that I would type "%pubip-http:my IP address" in one of the other text options & if so, what would be the purpose of putting that in there?

The variable %pubip will be replaced with the value you find here: "Settings -> Edit settings... -> Connection -> Public IP".
If you uncheck the options "Detect at startup" and "Detect every X minutes" and type a public address like the one you can get from i.e. dyndns.org or no-ip.com, this public address will be shown. This could be an address like mywebcam.no-ip.com.

More info about dynamic ip addresses here:
http://www.yawcam.com/help/noipguide.php

The %pubip variable was added on a request from a user who didn't want to use a service like dyndns or no-ip, but wanted to know the current address of web camera when motion detection triggered motion an emailed the images. The emailed image can now contain the current address to the camera.

Most users will not need this new variable though...

Yes, the public ip is obtained by pinging the yawcam server. It's very accurate ;-) This feature is controlled by the two "Detect..." check boxes.
Clicking the "Get"-button will also detect the public ip right away.

I downloaded the beta in hopes that it would store all my settings when the computer is rebooted, and it does not. Tee non-beta version at least saves everything except the video resolution size. But, the beta does not save any of the settings at all.

That's unfortunate...mine is working perfectly & saves everything.

Did you put the checkmarks in the Startup?

There are so many little ins and outs, I guess I forgot those boxes. So, I checked them, rebooted, and all my settings were there. Awesome! Thank you for your help! :)

How did you type it into your signature? I added mine to my profile, but youd have to click on my profile to get there, I like your way better!
