Great job!!... but....

Hi Malun:

Great job on the lastest and greatest beta verison. However few sugestions....

1. As per your instruction, I did create a couple of files the steath files on yawcam folder and it works great. However, Can that be included in the package? I mean, eventhough not many people are using that feature. It is nice to have the menu already instead of having user to create themselves. Anyway.. if you want to change beta to regular version, I think it should be included. This feature is great. we can use it as spycam to monitor bad baby sitter or just monitor anything that goes on the house or office!

2. In additional.. if you can have an opton in the menu for admin user (with security key to log in) to copy that yawcam.exe to other exe before running it. That would make this stealth mode very useful. That way, no one will know if the camera is working, not even people who can go to taskmaanger. Of cousrse, if people search around the folders, they see yawcam there, they will know........... But that is only a thought!

3. In order to unhide completely or I have to run yawcam again. sometimes, I hit yes and sometimes no and confused the settings file. Is there anyway like a hot key to like alt Y or ctl Y to bring the hidden mode out?? I dont mean a bother... it is working now. However, it would be more user friendly if it can be done in that way.

Again, above 3 are only my suggestions. So far, I am satisified with your creation. You don't have to do those modification if you don't want to. I appreicate your efford!!!

Thanks a million!! :)

Beta Bug?

Hi Mulan:

Just to let you know.. I just tried this morning. It does not work, and I know why.

When you started that beta version in stealth mode, I got file not found in my firefox. So I went back and run yawcam again. and I realized that the http and stream mode are not enabled. I have to enable it to make
it work. In other words, it won't work if I just started it out of no where unless those are enabled.

My question is where is the file that enable the http/stream and all that settings? I checked yawcam_settings.xml. And that is not part of it. Please advise.

Meanwhile, I cannot automatically start yawcam in stream mode because it is saved in enabled mode.

thanks for reading and hope you reply soon

1) Perhaps... I haven't decided yet if I want it to be easy or not to use this function :P

2) I don't think this feature is very useful. You will always be able to see a process in the taskmanager even if it has a different name. If you want to change the name of Yawcam's executable file, you can do it by hand.
(i) First rename yawcam\jre\bin\yawcam.exe to something else for example foobar.exe, then
(ii) edit the file yawcam\launcher.cfg, change the line jre\bin\yawcam.exe to jre\bin\foobar.exe
(iii) now yawcam will show up like foobar.exe in the process list.

3) The problem with this is that there is now way of listening to all key strokes in java. There is a tricky way of doing it, calling c++ routines using java jni, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

You will have to set Yawcam to start the stream or http or whatever you want to be started automatically at start. This is done in the settings. Click settings -> edit settings... -> startup
Now check the boxes before "start http" and "start stream" and they will start also when you start yawcam in stealth mode.

Startup

Mulan:

I did try the setting and enable the http and stream. And every time I exited out and came back in, the http and stream wil not be enabled. Are you saying that is not stored in a file anywhere?

All I want to achieve is to startup the yamcam on the startup automatically in a stealth mode. (by the way, i have the script to end the process at certain time or if I shut down the pc without running second instance.. that would not affect enable settings?)

thanks

Perhaps I've done something wrong... I'll look at it again and see if I find something...

No, the check boxes in "settings -> edit settings... -> startup" will do the trick. They work nice for me.

Are you sure you have them selected there?

It is working now...
