I have uninstalled all versions of Java, installed the latest version of Java 8 Update 31, rebooted, reinstalled Yawcam 4.1 and I still get this error message: Could not start the application--please reinstall the application.
I am running Windows 7, starter package, 32 bit.
I have run in the cmd mode, as suggested in other posts, and found that Java is installed correctly.
I can run Yawcam by executing ("C:\Program Files\Yawcam\debug_start.bat"; but if I close this window I get the same error message when starting Yawcam.
Yawcam was running fine before! Help!

Re: Could not start the application
This is because of the new way java inserts itself in the Path environment variable.
See the solution here: http://www.yawcam.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 3477#p9828

Re: Could not start the application
Thanks for your reply. I did follow the instructions in that thread; the result is that Java is in the path, so that is not the problem. Must be something else.

Re: Could not start the application
Does your path to Java looks like this? C:\program data\oracle\java\
If so, you need to change it, that's the problem. the folder above is not an actual folder, but a redirection and that is causing the issue.

Re: Could not start the application
Your path should be longer. Make sure you have something like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre8\bin"
Follow these instructions for changing the path: https://www.java.com/en/download/help/path.xml
