Err. Chk host! Usr online?

Post by nicolin »

Hello all!
Have just installed Yawcam (thumbs up all the way!) on my home computer (W2K).
Tried to see if there was another thread with this particular error, but couldn't find one.
I have a public IP, non-dynamic.
Have activated the HTTP output and Streaming output options in the proggie.
In trying to access the webcam from my office computer (W98se), I've run into a strange situation:
- can receive snaps (http://myaddress:8888) and 10 sec. delay 'slideshow' (http://myaddress:8888/update.html) )without any problems;
- however, when trying to get the stream (http://myaddress:8081 or http://myaddress:8081/local.html), the browser (IE6) first displays a gray box, the browser is saying "Applet initialised" alternating with "Opening page http://myaddress:8081/local.htm" (bottom left corner). After maybe 1 minute, the grray box is gone and I end up with the following message: "Err. Chk host! Usr online?"
Of course the home computer is online (since I can get the snapshots/'slideshow'), so what can be amiss?

Forgot to mention a couple of details:
- I'm running Yawcam ver. 0.2.5;
- downloaded and installed latest Java from their site, but streaming still does NOT work. I get the same error "Err. Chk host! Usr online?";
- downloaded and installed Yawviewer, still no streaming (just a grey box).

Have you forwarded your router correctly?
and
"forced your public ip" in the stream settings?

otherwise you will get this error...

I tried to force public ip. It didn't help.
I can reach the html page, but the applet seems to have a problem

Please check the source for the HTML page and see that Host parameter is correct in the Applet tag. You should have a line looking something like this in HTML:

Code: Select all

<param name="Host" value="server.com">
where server.com is your public address to the computer where Yawcam runs. Sometimes Yawcam can get confused when the ip has changed.

If host value is not the value you "forced" in the settings, then temporary try to change the value in the settings to something else. click OK on the settings, and then go back and change the value back to the real value.
