Router troubles--HELP!

Post by lunarflame »

I've tried two programs, YawCam and Active WebCam and I am having the same issues with both, using the latter program i got:

Step 4. ERROR: cannot connect to http://24.224.178.102:8083 .
Probably your program is running behind of a firewall
or you do not have HTTP broadcasting method selected.
If you are running a home network please make sure
your firewall or router is configured to forward TCP/IP traffic
from port 8083 to your local PC with Activewebcam software installed.
For more information please check "Technical FAQ" in your Active WebCam Help
or in your web profile F.A.Q. section on http://my.activewebcam.com/profile/login.php.

I have a D-Link router and cannot for the life of me figure out what settings to change on it so that my IP is accessable to view my webcam.

I had YawCam set up and broadcasting great once before, but I had my computer formatted and I cannot for the life of me remember what I changed for this to work!

Which D-Link router do you have? If it has support for UPNP I recommend you to download the latest beta version of Yawcam and use UPNP to setup your router.
Get the latest beta version from here:
http://www.yawcam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=599

Don't forget to enable UPNP in your router's settings before you try this.

The new beta also have the function "Help -> Am I online?" with more help on how to configure your router.

i tired using both the yawcam enabling and tried to forward the ports myself but it is still not working. Something in my router is NOT letting this work.

I have wireless internet set up on my computer in WPA-PSK. Would this affect it at all?

I have no idea what is wrong.

No, that shouldn't make any difference.

Which D-Link router do you have? Which model?

OK!

I got the UPNP to recognize, it says I am online, but the one problem i have now is that when people view my cam, it is not updating/streaming

I am using port 7075.. i just picked a random port number to see if it would work. All the 8000 ports would not work....

Good, now we are getting closer.
Some Internet Service Providers block certain port ranges. It is possible that your ISP has blocked all 8XXX ports.
I'm not sure why the images are not updated. If you send me a PM or an email with the address to your webcam and I can take a look.
