Suggestions Sticky and Priority list

Post by z3r0c00l12 »

Hi Malun,

Just wanted to know, I've been reading the forum for a while now and noticed that lots of suggestions go through, but eventually the topic gets lost in the archives. Would you be kind enough to make a sticky note on the forum with the current suggestions, the first post of said topic being updated weekly or something. This will give users a taste of what is coming up and what other users are looking for.

Also, I was wondering if you could list your priority list that you have mentioned a few times before on the forum, this way, users know what is the next feature to be release or which bug is gonna be fixed first.

Now here is a suggestion of my own, I have posted this in someone else's thread and I feel this suggestion got ignored in the process. I wanted to know the possibility to have a web management UI that provides enough features to control, Camera, Yawcam options, and maybe future options such as video recording, so to have a record on demand sort of thing. A file browser, to browse file captures, video captures (future feature) or simply for transferring files.

TL;DR
1) Make a sticky page of suggestions (updated weekly)
2) Make a sticky page of current priorities (features and bugs)
3) Web Management Page Feature

Thank you,

Thanks for your suggestions z3r0c00l12.

The problem with the priority-/todo-list is that it is mixed in Swedish and English, and contains code snippets, thoughts and solution ideas. In other words, it is not so readable for others than me...
I will have to clean it up a bit and make a public version of the todo-list before I can post it in the forum.

A suggestion list will not be so different from the todo-list. Most suggestions end up on the todo-list but perhaps not with so high priority.
What's your idea of how the first post would look like in a suggestion thread?

Management by a web GUI is a nice suggestion that has been suggested before... I have it on the todo-list but will not do anything about it right now...

I thought the first post of the thread would look something like this :

Features Already Suggested | (Status) | LINK

Web Management GUI (Approved by Malun 2010-02-14) LINK to thread
Mac Version (Rejected by Malun 2010-02-14) LINK to thread
Scheduled "Images to Movie" (Awaiting Approval 2010-02-24) LINK to thread
Change Extravars directory (Awaiting Approval 2010-02-26) LINK to thread

Legend :
Green = Approved
Red = Rejected
Blue = In Voting Process

Please keep in mind that this post is kept up to date weekly.

Latest Update : 2010-02-26

Thank you

I had to put your signature there ^ but basically, this is what I think it would look like, this way we don't get 2 requests a week about a Linux or Mac version and stuff like that. Of course this is just a draft...

Sorry for the double post, just wanted to add suggestions to the WebUI feature while I'm at it. I'd like to be able to select which camera is streamed through the WebUI, so I can change camera on the fly, and also be able to release the camera but still have the service running so that I can engage the camera when needed.

Thanks

It's very nice that you keep this post updated. Maybe you can copy the contents in this post and make a new post with a better title. I can make that post a sticky. In this way, if you create the post, we can both edit the post and try to keep it up to date. What do you think about that? are you willing to help me with this?

By the way, here's another request: ;)

Seems a good idea.
Avoid other users asking over and over the same question to add something to Yawcam.
