Java VM: Java HotSpot Error

Post by 3dzer0 »

I have been using Yawcam for years and absolutely love it. I just recently started having an error and have yet to be able to figure it out. I have uninstalled completely - reinstalled. Unistalled Java and reinstalled, and haven't been able to figure out what is causing it.

Here is the error log that:

I'm not sure if this will help, but it seems it has to do with dsj.dll, there was a solution posted on the forum, try following this and see if it fixes the problem. LINK to solution

Also, please let us know if going back to 0.3.4 fixes the problem.

Thank You for the quick reply.

I installed version 0.3.4 after a complete uninstall of version 0.3.6 including all folders and running CCleaner on the registry. And I ended up with the same error.

I had previously tried the replacement of the dll and the jar file previous from following that thread that you linked me to.

I am sure there is some file that may be interfering with that particular dll, but for the life of me I can't locate which one is the culprit.

I have even went as far as uninstalling my cameras as well.

The problem occurs when Yawcam is scanning the computer for video and audio devices. Probably there is some video device/driver in your computer that Yawcam can't handle.

Have you recently connected any new hardware to your computer? A new graphics or TV-card? Or have you recently updated the drivers for some of your video devices?

We need to identify what hardware it is that is makes Yawcam crash...

As soon as I get home this evening I will try to remove all corresponding information to all of my cams.

What is the best route to be sure that I remove all of the dlls or cam information ?

As a test you could try performing a system restore back to a point in time when everything worked right. And then you can undo the restore after checking things out. But if things start working again you can decide to not undo the restore.

The fact that things worked right before and they don't now could mean there is some kind of corruption within one or more places. An update for almost any kind of thing could cause corruption. Even a standard Microsoft Windows update could be a reason for this type of corruption.

So you could also try running a sfc /scannow on the system cmd to try and repair any detected corrupt system files. My best guess is your system may have some corruption with both Java VM and Microsoft Windows OS. So good luck!

Hopefully, you got system restore turned off, it's now a big source of viruses that install themselves in the restore, and I doubt the system restore actually fixes your problem anyways.

Hopefully you have system restore turned on, and forget about any advice concerning virus infections in system restore because that has absolutely nothing to do with fixing the main problem within this thread.

Performing a system restore is just the first step within a series of systematic troubleshooting steps that can be performed to diagnose and fix the problem. For example, if the system restore process fails and it generates a system error message then it's possible there is system wide corruption and this is not just a localized problem. And if a system restore can't fix the problem there are still other things that can be done partly based on the knowledge that system restore doesn't work. So as a system engineer I sometimes find this to be very useful.

I fix problems like this with system restore almost everyday for a living and it usually works. And if system restore points are getting infected then permanently turning off system restore doesn't fix the infection problem. The system needs better or more security software to prevent infections from getting into anywhere on the system.

And leaving system restore turned off is a bad idea unless you like reinstalling the entire Windows operating system to repair minor corruption that system restore can fix. You can also try using sfc /scannow at the command prompt to scan, detect, and repair corrupt system files. You may also consider doing some of the things recommended while running in Safe Mode. It's also recommended that you try to run all repair utility programs as a system admin on a Windows 7 or Vista system. Completely disabling the UAC is also recommended while performing system repair procedures.

If your system has it's own built-in repair utility made by the computer manufacter then you can also consider restoring some system files from the system recovery disc that contains the system software drivers.

I can't confirm this just yet but I suspect that the problem is JAVA. I believe that Yawcam was originally written for older versions of Java. Try installing one of the older versions, such a 1.7 and see if it works. Good Luck!
