Post by malun »

In this topic I will post beta versions of yawcam before official releases.

Beta versions of yawcam will come in a zipfile. Unzip and run Yawcam.
If your webcam isn't detected you will have to click: "settings -> detect webcam" in the text menu.

So, here comes the first beta release:
http://www.yawcam.com/beta/yawcam_beta_2004-11-19.zip

What's new?
- Fixed some ftp bugs.
- Added path memory for save dialog.
- Added some new overlay variables.
- Added announcement possibilities.
- Added possibility to use older language
files. Missing parts will now show up
in english.
- Added forced applet size.
- Added zoom functionality in applet.
- Added smarter code for data transfer to applet.
- Changed from java 1.4 to java 5.0
- Added some password protection. (not finished, and not secure yet)

This beta has not been "size optimized" so you will have to do the 24 Mb download. sorry.

As usual you can report bugs to bugs@yawcam.com

I forgot to tell you what the new overlay variables are. Here they come:

%HH - hours (12h clock)
%apm - am/pm
%APM - AM/PM
%month - month written in text (english)
%day - day written in text (english)

Any more suggestions?

Another new thing I forgot to tell you about is that I have added a possibility for "silent retry on connection error" for the ftp-upload.
In the former versions of Yawcam a temporary connection error to the ftp server would stop the ftp output with a warning message. This new option allows the ftp to continue running, and just prints a warning in the console.

Yes, this would be nice to have. I'll see what I can do.

Sorry to be dense, but I am using Yawcam to post a periodic still to the web & would like to use the zoom feature to get a better framed photo. Can I do that? How?
