Fuzzy Pictures

Post by exaramco »

Problem: With Yawcam taking snapshots every 1/2 second, the pictures of moving individuals are fuzzy.

System1: Vista
System2. WindowsXP
Camera: Microsoft Lifecam VX5000
Video software: Lifecam 2.0

With the Vista system I was able to correct the problem by going to Yawcam/Settings/Device camera tab and unclick "low light compensation". No problem here.

On WindowsXP machine with the same camera and software the low light compensation box is not there; so, obviously, I cannot unclick it. I have tried various picture intervals, etc, and they all yield fuzzy moving subjects.

I suspect that low light compensation is on full time on WindowsXP and that it acts like a slow shutter speed on a camera--hence the fuzzy moving objects.

Can anyone think of a way of fixing this problem?

Thanks.

Try re-installing the drivers for the camera, or a more recent version of LifeCam.

I have refreshed all drivers without any changes; it seems that the ability to control low light compensation is available only in Vista.
