Data charges ?

Postby nura100 » Tue Mar 13, 2012 5:56 pm

Hello forum,

Yawcam is wonderful ! I could setup my webcam within 3-4 mins.

The setup guides provided by Malun are really helpful !

currently i am using inbuilt webcam of my Laptop which is connected to my home Wifi, I am able to see video stream on my Android phone which too is connected to home wifi.

I still haven't checked the video stream on external network (on internet).

I have few doubts regarding the data usage charges:

1)When i start streaming, and i am not viewing the cam on internet, will i be still billed for the data (for home internet connection) ? in other words, the Yawcam is streaming from my laptop and no one is watching the stream, will i be billed for streaming by my ISP ?

2) if i watch the stream locally (on home wifi) will i be billed for the data ?

Regards

1) No, you are only billed when someone is watching.

2) No, you are not billed for traffic within your home network.

The only time you are charged data is if someone is watching Yawcam from the internet, or Yawcam is sending to an FTP server.

But if you watch your home from work, you will get charged. Unless your
work is next door from your house & share the same wifi. :P

What i meant was, i can keep the home webcam(and the laptop) continuously ON without fear of getting billed.

But will be billed only when i watch the stream from work (at intervals)
