Post by generalsu »

Tried to convert over 100,000 jpegs into a movie with Yawcam and it got stuck at "writing movie...". Any ideas?

100K images?! Well yes, I have an idea of what might be the problem there... :P
Try making e.g. 5 videos with 20K images each.

Why can't I just make one movie instead of splitting it into 5 movies? What sort of limitation is this?

I don't really know if that's the problem (the huge amount of images), that
was just a guess. I'm only suggesting to try with fewer images & if everything
works ok then it must be a memory problem or something. Btw, did you give
yawcam enough time to work? 100K images would take a fairly good amount
of time to be converted, especially on an older computer.

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro with 8GB of RAM. I gave Yawcam 24 hours to convert the 100K images, but it's just stuck there. I don't think it's a memory problem. I think the issue is with Yawcam and Java.

Yes, I tried converting with few images. The max number of images Yawcam is willing to work with is about 15K, which is completely inadequate, considering I use Yawcam for 24/7 monitoring of my front gate. I think Yawcam should fix this flaw.

I tried even using a 64 bit JRE with yawcam, and it doesn't work. It won't even compile a 2.5GB video.
