Yawcam Won't Stream When Ran As A Service.

Post by boom_243 »

Hi, I am having the same issue with the service not streaming. It works fine from the regular application, just not the service. When I start the program while the service is running it tells me the the ports are in use, so I know that it is using the correct ports. Any help would be great. Thanks.

It's possible that the service is stopped by your firewall.
When Yawcam is running as a service another .exe file is used than the ordinary one.
Make sure that the Yawcam_Service.exe is allowed through your firewall.

The file is located in the folder to where you installed Yawcam. Typically:
C:\Program files\Yawcam\Yawcam_Service.exe

Hi Malun, I checked my firewall and the service_exe wasn't there, so I added it, plus the service_32 and 64 just for good measures. I restarted the service and tried to view from online...still nothing. I even tried using IE thinking maybe Chrome just wouldn't hook up. I'm getting at wits end here. Any other thoughts? Thanks again.

Malun,

After a teamviewer session with Boom, who was very helpful and patient, I haven't been able to solve all the issues.

I installed Yawcam as a service, confirmed using motion detection that Yawcam was reading the settings properly.
I confirmed that Yawcam was listening on the ports for both HTTP and Stream.
The browser can't connect to Yawcam.
Other computers on the network can connect to Yawcam and view the stream and http, just not on the same computer.
Another computer on the same network, with a very similar configuration works just fine.
Disabling Avast doesn't allow the connection either.

Problematic system:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Java 7.13
Yawcam 0.3.9
Avast 7.0.1474
Windows Firewall is Off
Problem above, loopback connections aren't working.

Similar system, no issue:
Windows 7 Professional x64
Java 7.13
Yawcam 0.3.9
Avast 7.0.1474
Windows Firewall is On, but Yawcam is allowed through firewall.
Can view stream and http locally and on LAN.

I've seen a similar issue with Norm (a thread in the general section), where Avast is installed nothing connects to Yawcam, even though Yawcam is listening on the port.

I'm thinking Avast had an upgrade that causes issues.

Thanks for the investigation and the facts.
Looks like I'll have to find a computer to install Avast on :-)
