Windows 7 problem running Yawcam Service

Post by Markal »

My Windows 7 computer will not allow me to install Yawcam services. When I try it pops a box up that says:

Installing service with command: C:\Program Files\Yawcam\Yawcam_Service.exe
OpenSCManager failed - Access is denied. (0x5)

*********************
*** ERROR ***
*********************

Press any key to continue . . .

Any ideas?

I am logged on as Administrator & Password Protected

Otherwise Yawcam works fine.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 are pretty confusing when it comes to Administrative rights, all of this because of UAC.

With an Administrative account, you still have to right-click and select Run As Administrator for the service to install correctly.

By default, with UAC ON, even if your account has administrative privileges, it is considered a regular user unless you use "Run As Administrator".

Thanks yet again.

You hit the nail on the head first time.

Right click and run as administrator worked like a charm. Just had to remember to go into the firewall settings as it was not added, neither Yawcam nor Yawcam_services.

As soon as they were added, it all worked like a charm.

Thanks to you, I now have a Webcam server on XP and on Windows 7.

This is an important tip, so I hope it gets noticed by others having the same problem.
