streaming with belkin 7633 router and "split cam"

Post by soundrediscovery »

Found this software, fantastic idea, problem with my set up I think.
Ideas would be welcomed.
.
1. I want a "static" link to put on my website for streaming.
2. I want to be able to use MSN Messenger or similar at the same time
3. I want to be able to view activity from in and outside the "network"

tried to open up port 8081 in the router could view inside the network using xxx/local.html

loaded "splitcam" drivers

http://www.dissoft.com/SplitCam-3633.html

which allows dual usage of one camera on a workstation (yawcam/messenger) but "splitcam" creates a new local network with ip address change from 192.xxx.x.4 to 0.1.0.4 which then stops internal network monitoring.

at no time have i been able to view from "outside" the network.

i have tried no-ip.com but either it doesn't work or I am missing something

I reckon if I can get the outside to be able to look in, I will be able to set up the web page link. I suspect the router is the main problem as it has blocked other programmes despite "port forwardin" being followed and the firewall software has "granted" for each programme.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and how did you resolve it?

Cheers

half fixed!

configured the router OK and the weird network address was temporary.

still don't get this "no-ip" set up.

say my registered "host name" is XYZ.no-ip.info what needs to be put into the advanced settings to be able to view?

I should have posted my solution some time ago.

It was to do with "loop back" connections within a network.

Finally went with DNS for the static IP issue.

If you want to view an "empty chair" go to

http://www.980woq.net/SRD.html and hit the "live webcam" link

or just go to

http://shuttlexp.soundrediscovery.dnsalias.net:81/

To try and keep it short, each PC on the network has to have its "name" entered into the "Hosts" file.
There is an article on the DNS site which is accessible via this "sticky" post on Dynamic IP solution.

http://www.yawcam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96

It also solves the "Err. Chk host! Usr online" issue that seems to crop up on this forum from time to time.

I hope this helps
