view yawcam streaming from a pocket pc (vm2003)

Post by philou.fr »

hi,
I installed yawcam with streaming activated and it works perfectly over my home WLAN. ( I use 2 PC , one with the webcam and yawcam and the other as a client IE).

I would like to use my pocket pc (HP5450 windows mobile 2003) to view the streaming over my WLAN.
It does not work. I see the home page "My Webcam!" and the signature "www.yawcam.com" but no image.
Could someone let me know what pluggin should I install on my pocket pc to make it work ?
thanks,
malun

Your browser need to have at least java version 1.1 installed.
I don't know much about pocket pc, but I found this page:
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2226

I think you need a plugin called JV-Lite2.

Also try this link:

unfortunately, the trial version of "NetFront v3.1 for PPC2003 with JV-Lite2 Rel1.00" is provided without JV-Lite2.
I couldn't verify if it works or not.

What I understand is that I need a java vm for my pocket PC (a pluggin for pocket internet explorer or another web brother with java vm capability).
I found this web page, http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/computing/u ... cjava.html
I tested some of them - without success.
I will continue to look for it

I tested Creme that is a java vm pluggin for pocket internet explorer.

http://www.nsicom.com/products/eval1.asp
NB: After installation on the pocket pc, you must register the plugin by clicking on the ‘Register Plugin’ shortcut on the Start | Programs | CrEme V3.24 page.

The pluggin is working properly ... sometimes.
The only problem is that the streaming must be initialized with another PC.
If not, the yawcam webpage stop with a gray windows displaying "loading".
If don't know if the problem comes from the yawcam or from the java pluggin. I will try to test with another pluggin to see if the problem still the same.

The yawcam applet should be java 1.1 compatible. So this is what the plugin has to support. What I have understood the most plugin creators make their own interpretation of the java standard so it might be hard to find some that works with a specific applet.

Keep on searching, and thanks for keeping us updated!

Hi,
i'm Nic from sunny Singapore.
Objective - To set up a baby monitor to work on a pda using a webcam and notebook as server.

philou.fr's solution using creme works fine with the occasional freeze but a refresh solves the problem.

Thanks a million.

Web cam - S$29
5m usb extension (fr baby room to living room) - S$6.50
Webcam server - Notebook.
PDA - FOC from work.

US$1 = S$1.6
