Hey there, let me start off my saying yawcam is great, its rare to see good free software.

I was wondering is it possible could a simple web interface be made so people could operate pan and tilt functions on the webcam?

Yes, that would be a nice feature and it's actually already on the TODO-list.
However the TODO-list is long and time is short

Hi,

i wrote last weekend a java application (inc. a windows dll for the directshow access). It uses an own httpserver (on my computer) for displaying the control.
With this PTZ-Control i can pan, tilt, zoom the Logitech Sphere.
Next weekend, i will give a link so the software an my homepage.

Perhaps yawcam has an interest in the source code to implement it directly in yawcam.
