Hi,
I do not understand the usage of Annoucement. Any example to how/what do I fill in the boxes?
Is it possible to sent an email annoucement when the yawcam is offline and online?
Use of Annoucement in yawcam
This is the Yawcam On-line help on this mather.
Yawcam -> Settings -> Announcements
Online and offline announcements can be used to let a webcam community know when you go online and offline.
Announcements usually consist of http-requests. Your webcam community will provide you with information on how your announcement string should look like.
You can use some variables when you create your announcement string:
%url_h% = URL to Yawcam's web server (http).
%url_s% = URL to Yawcam's stream page.
The "preview" button shows the announcement strings with the variables replaced with real values.
The "Info" button shows info about the variables you can use.
Select when an announcement shall be sent by marking the checkboxes for:

I did filled in the fields.
I believed it would be the like http://[my_network_IP]:[8888].
As the http:// is pre-filled in.
(Tried with my local IP too)
When i enabled/disabled http i recieved the error :
I assumed it was my IP,
I looked at the logs in C:\Program Files\Yawcam\logs but didn't found something related to that message.
I'm kind of curious too now.

No, it is not.enduser22 wrote:Is it possible to sent an email annoucement when the yawcam is offline and online?
Announcements are used to let an webcam community know that your camera is online. Exactly how the announcement address should look like will your webcam community tell you. Not all communities uses announcements like this.
You shall not only type the url of your own webcam (like http://[my_network_IP]:[8888] as tellmewhy suggested) in the announcement string. That doesn't make any point

Can you post/show an example, syntax to use.
How can such an announcement be formed ?
(Destination URL, Source URL, ports used, text to display, .......)
Do we have to enter subnet masks ?
What does make a point ?
What would be a valid entry in the boxes "Online Announcement" & Offline Announcement" to make the message dissappear ?
It's quite obvious a ceck is made before taking an action.
"Could not send online announcement! PLease check your settings".
Of wich settings are we speaking here ?
