[ Stream guide ] :.
Since
a lot of people want to use the stream output but have problems
getting it up and running I wrote a small “Getting Started
Guide”.

If you have a dynamic IP-address, start at A.

a router, start at B.

directly connected to the Internet (don’t use a router),
start at C.
A)
If you have a dynamic IP-address (an IP that changes every
time you start the computer / connects to the Internet) you will
have to get a DNS updater from for example www.no-ip.com.
1)
Go to no-ip.com and
click on “No-IP Free” and then “sign up now!”.
2) Enter your data and register.
3) When the registration process has finished
log in to your new account.
4) When you have logged in: Click “add”
under “hosts / redirects”.
5) Enter a hostname you want to point to your
computer. (for example foobar.no-ip.org)
6) Select “DNS Host (A)” as Host
Type.
7) Click on “create host”.
8) Now go to www.no-ip.com
and click on the download link.
9) Download the No-IP Dynamic Update Client (DUC)
10) Install the software and start it.
11) Below “hosts” you should be able
to see the hostname you just registered before. Mark the check
box in front of the hostname.
12) Click on the button "options".
Then mark the check box "Run on startup" and click "ok".
13) Now your public address will always be your
registered hostname (for example foobar.no-ip.org) even if your
ip address changes.
14) Go to B.
B)
If you use a router or if you use a DNS updater (for example
no-ip.com) you will have to “force your public address”
in the stream settings for Yawcam.
1) In the main window of Yawcam, click Settings
-> Edit Settings... -> Stream
2) Mark the check box “advanced”
and enter your public address in the field “Force public
ip”. Note that if you use a DNS updater you must enter your
registered hostname (for example foobar.no-ip.org), and can’t
use the “Get”-button.
3) Now you have to forward a port in your router.
(Look at www.portforward.com
for help with that.) You want one port on your router to point
to the computer where Yawcam is running. The default port for
streaming is 8081.
4) Go to C.
C)
Start the stream.
1)
Click on the “enable”-button for stream in Yawcam’s
main window.
Now you should
be visible for others on the address: http://your-public-address:8081,
if you used the standard port number.
Note
#1: If you are using the no-ip.com service, you will
be visible for others on http://foobar.no-ip.org:8081 from the
example above.
Note
#2: If you are using port forwarding you will not be
able to see yourself from inside your local network on the public
address. Then instead use http://your-local-address:8081/local.html.
