I actually setup my computer on DynDNS.com. This will allow you to run software on your PC that will update the DHCP address with DynDNS. Their site associates it with serveftp.org. You can create your own prefix to the link which is nice. I then edited the html to add all the other things onto the page.

Check out - DynDNS for more info. It's free.
thank you...checked it out & will play with this later. Do you keep your PC on all the time?
I try to. You never know what you will see on there. A deer, a bear or some people drinking beers.
Am I viewing a still image? I notice that the time does not change. When I had mine set up, the time did change ...it was a video.

That is just the standard out file that you see. I'm not sure if I am going to add a link for live streaming view at all.

oh..ok...I'll keep checking in case you do.

I have purchased a Hauppage Win TV so that I could hook up my digital camera instead of using my Logitech webcam. Reason is that I want a better quality image.
Hopefully it will be up & running this evening.

update

Hauppage didn't work so I have set up my webcam in a webpage.

You can view it at http://www.northnews.ca

I have put it in an iframe.

If you have time, I'd appreciate some feedback.

Thanks in advance

Here is my link at my cabin. Crivitz Cam
Hi there.

Happy to see you have the video set up even if it is dark right now....will check it again in the daylight.

I have managed to hide my IP address in an iframe on my website & now the webcam only opens in a pop up when a viewer clicks on the link on the left side.

It took a long time figuring it out, but glad I finally got it. If anyone wants to know how to do that, I will gladly help.
I love Yawcam!!!

Thanks for sharing.
I suppose this is the code you referring to ?

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.northnews.ca/webcam.html" onclick="NewWindow(this.href,'webcam','400','400','YES','center');return false" onfocus="this.blur()"> <b>WEBCAM IS HERE</a></font><br><br>
By the way you r current IP is **.***.***.**
Just push F11 to display the webcam page in full screen and your IP shows.
It's standard Windows function key

Well if someone would like to know the origin (read IP-address) of a webcam stream, you have free tools like snooper who can give you the details.

Moreover on internet you have free sites to look up DSN info.
For example : serveftp.org
Searched via http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp
Gives you plenty of info where your website is hosted, your internet provider, .....etc.

Other words,
If someinfo wants to find info, he will find it.

Thanks for the response.

So, are you telling me that I should not waste my time trying to conceal my IP?

Oh well, at least someone has to have a little savvy to get to it the way it is.

Thanks for being here & I still love Yawcam!!! :D

The effort you do is never wasted time.
If you can occompish this you can accomplish something else too.
And learn in the proccess doing it.

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.northnews.ca/webcam.html" onclick="NewWindow(this.href,'webcam','400','400','YES','center');return false" onfocus="this.blur()" TARGET="_blank"> <b>WEBCAM IS HERE</a>
Note that i had to add the code TARGET="_blank" to have the same result on my computer.

OS : Windows Vista (32 bits) version
IExplorer : Version 7

Else the webcam was displayed in the same window.
Guess this should been a differance of code between the IExplorer versions.
The target window was then displayed as :

your webcam

thanks for the new link, although I never had a problem opening it.

What kind of webcam are you using?

I still haven't figured out how to use a digital camera as a webcam.

I'm currently using an old Logitech webcam. Seems to work just fine for messing around with. A lot of businesses block ports like the default of 8888 so I thought I would reconfigure all my routers and Yawcam this morning to accomdate that.
