impossible to set a decimal ftp upload interval?

Post by factotum »

Hello!

I use Yawcam version 0.3.4 built 2011-01-01

I tried to set the ftp upload interval to a value less then 1 second, but no decimal value is accepted. Even if it's not less then 1. Why?

I wonder about this, because the error message in the german language version says (translated to English):
"This field accepts only numbers. (e.g. 5.5 or 10) Please change ..."
That's funny, especially when you entered 5.5 in this field ...

If anybody wonders about my desire to upload in short intervals: I can't use the streaming possibility of yawcam, because I use a connection with a surfstick. I'm not a network specialist, but it seems, that the provider blocks incoming requests to the ip. And so my idea is to upload a fast sequence of pictures and reload the picture on the webpage in a correspondant interval. Has anybody a better concept?

Thanks for your ideas and help!

The English language file will actually give another error message. I guess the German file is a bit out dated... Sorry about that.

Earlier versions of Yawcam didn't allow a persistent ftp connection. That is why a shorter interval than 1 second didn't make any sense since the big delay would be the time for connect and login preceding the image upload.
However in current version of Yawcam (where there is an option "stay connected") a shorter interval makes sense.
Hopefully I can fix this in a future version.
