Do you have java installed?

Also check that there exists a file called YawApplet.class in Yawcam's stream directory. It should be located like this:
<yawcam dir>\stream\YawApplet.class

where <yawcam dir> is the directory where you installed yawcam. e.g. c:\program files\yawcam

Red X

Post by Mick »

Yep, the applet is there and I have the latest java version installed. It is weird, just for kicks I downloaded simplecam and get the same problem with the red x in the uppercorner and now video. All seems normal, just no video, or there is something blocking the java applet from starting. I don't know.

thanks for your help. any other ideas would be appreciated.

First, you did not indicate whether you were loading the applet from the page hosted by Yawcam, or by way of a webserver hosted page. If you are doing it via webserver hosting and using dynamic ip addressing the CODEBASE applet parameter indicates where to load the appllet from.
Then, depending upon which versions of Java your browser is using (MS or Sun; and which version) will determine whether or not to indicate the http:// part in the CODEBASE. The older versions work with or without the http:// part, but the newer versions do not work if the http:// part is there and all you get it the red X which indicates Java could not load the applet.
