setting up yawcam to view a webcam on another computer in my network

Post by Crchisholm » Mon Nov 26, 2018 4:33 pm

I build 3d Printers and CNC routers as a hobby. The printers and CNC's are in my garage and I typically work in my home office. I want to monitor the print or cnc job remotely (but within my home network) as the jobs can sometimes take hours to run (hopefully successfully)

I downloaded Yawcam and managed to view the output of my webcam on the machine it is attached to, but not sure how to view it on another computer (preferrably an ipad). I tryed just browsing to the ip assigned to the computer that has the webcam and yawcam running (http:\\192.168.x.x) but that did not work. I think I am probably over simplifying this process.

Is their anyone out their that has done something similar that might be able to direct me to a tut or document that might instruct me on what I need to do?

You do not need to obfuscate local LAN addresses.

On Yawcam dashboard go to file and enable stream output.

on other computers on your network go to your Yawcam computer address and add :8081 example- http://192.168.0.34:8081

If you do not see it you may have a firewall on that computer that is stopping you from accessing that port.
