Yawcam as Video Conferencing Solution

Post by sheldon »

I would like to know if Yawcam can be used as a Video Conferencing Software solution. I have three offices all on a MPLS. I would like to have one office sending the live video and the other two offices viewing the video. Usually it is someone presenting an educational seminar. Does Yawcam also support sound? I like that Yawcam runs on our server, so the traffic doesn’t have to leave the MPLS. Will Yawcam be the solution I am looking for?

Unfortunately, Yawcam is not designed this way, although from your description, you can definitely set up Yawcam to stream video and have 2 viewers, that is ok. But Yawcam doesn't support sound, and having a third party app or calling the other parties means the video and audio will be out of sync.

You can run Yawcam on your server, but that means you will either sit the presenter at the server itself, or use Yawcam on the server as a relay, which you'll have to point to the right stream for every presentation.

I do what you want to do but without sound.
From my office I can stream my webcam to my website
and my other employees or clients or website vistors can
see me on my webcam and communicate with me from
within my chatroom.

This is the online webcam chatroom page at my site:

Sorry, but you'll only see the webcam working if I have
it turned on. And even though there's no audio it works
fairly good. So I also plan to start running the HTML as
a plugin within my own webcam chatroom app window
so no browser will be required to communicate.
